The old center of Santiago is the classic place to live for students, especially because of its low prices and the vicinity of the big universities. At most places, time has left its marks, so don't expect luxury! Here, it is more likely to find a students' community willing to share its simply equipped rooms with foreigners.

Don Jose Housing: Spacious house for foreign people, administrated by Don JoseFelipe (a Chilean in his fiveties, emglish and japanese spoken). Residential neighbourhood of the Brasil Zone, close to the crossings of the streets Brasil, Alameda, Almirante Latorre and Republica, 2 blocks from the metro stations Republica (line 1)  and only 10 minutes walking distance to the La Moneda and some of the faculties of the Civic Center. The house was opened 5 years a go and has 8 rooms for rent (sinngle and double), 5 big-sized and 3 medium-sized rooms, most of them very bright (apart from 2 of the smaller rooms), quiet, with simple furniture, some with a desk. Very comfortable interior with TV cable and  equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer.
